Mary founded Portland Doula Collaborative, Portland's first group doula practice, and is a licensed massage therapist. She has her Bachelors Degree in Human Biology and Health Sciences from USM in Portland.
She has been a licensed massage therapist since 2003. Her love of deep tissue work seems to follow her wherever she goes! Her unique and vast skill set allow for treatments that can meet the needs of everyone in your family!
She has advanced training in Cranial Work, Deep Tissue Therapy, Myofascial Release, Structural Reintegration, Pregnancy, and Pediatrics.
Mary is also a DONA/CAPPA trained doula offering labor and delivery support, as well as postpartum support. She works with all families including those in high risk medical situations including work with multiples, medically assisted deliveries, high risk pregnancy, breech presentation, and medically fragile infants.
Mary is a trained Spinning Babies Practitioner and utilizes these techniques in both her doula practice, and within massage treatments in her Portland office.
She attends births at all hospitals in Maine, New Hampshire, and Eastern Mass, as well as births at home. (Her 3rd child was born at home!)
Mary provides patient advocate options for those with chronic illness, cancer, and individuals needing end of life support. She has provided pediatric hospice services to families in Maine for over 7 years.
Management of chronic illness can be a full time job. Together with your established medical team, Mary will offer guidance on supportive holistic or medical options, encourage knowledge seeking, help with referrals, and lend a listening ear. These services are already embedded in her practice for her bodywork and doula clients. Patient advocacy clients gain access to these same services without having to commit to anything else.
